Welcome

Punehu Stream Cottage is a picturesque cottage set in 5 acres of land on a working lavender farm just a short distance south of Opunake in South Taranaki. It is part of the complex which is the Old Pihama Dairy factory. It is bounded on two sides by Punehu Stream, hence the name. The dairy factory has a rich history going back to 1897. The cottage was built more recently and offers a good level of warmth and comfort. It has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a kitchen, laundry as well as conservatory and BBQ area and private access to the stream. It offers idyllic surrounds and privacy. This is perfect for family holidays, wedding accommodation, girls weekends away, couples romantic breaks.

At Pihama Lavender we grow a small amount of lavender and distill the oil for further process. The situation is idyllic. The stream flows on two sides of the property, the surf coast highway is at the gate, and the view of the majestic Mt Taranaki is evident from many parts of the botanic gardens. Whether you are in to hiking, surfing, skiing, fishing, gardening,  art retreat weekends, or rest and recreation, this is the place for you.
